Dunkeswell War Stories

Dunkeswell War Stories enabled older people in the Blackdown Hills and the USA to tell the stories of the only American naval airbase in the UK in WW2 through filmed interviews. This high profile online project was accompanied by a series of events, schools activities and commemorations, along with digital installations at local museums. A interactive website weaved together first hand accounts captured on film with archive photographs and engaging graphics to create a compelling digital journey. A full set of school resources linked the topic with the National Curriculum and inter-generational events enabled a new understanding of events that had been largely unexplored.
I devised and managed the project for the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership. The main funder was the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project was shortlisted for the University of Plymouth's 2014 Digital Educator Awards.
